Episode 33: Expecting

“Charge!”
The same guy ago yelled, causing these warriors to attack in my direction. I hastily bounced back and take the exit but it was not a good idea.
“Howdy, black knight!”
“So, you are the knight from the mansion?”
“I thought she was from Shadowstone?”
“What is this? A woman?”
“Intelligence unit got an information wrong! Damn it!”
A hundred. Great number. I swear I’m gonna strangle that curtsy neck of Kymil’s. They’re more like a hundred and fifty! Does Edith know this?
“Such multiple mouths. Could I answer you one by one later? Just give me a second.” My lips twitched as my hand rubbed my wound gradually healing itself. I simply stomped on a stone with green common vines crawling on it and rapidly uttered something, “Sylvir, of trick and trap. Creep and set them still.”
Pulling the two rapiers settled on my back, I grinned and kicked the guy in front of me with a rapid move, the blades quickly slit off three of the warriors. I clenched my hands tighter, making green vines arise from the ground and clamp onto these wolves’ legs.
“Firstly, call me black knight if you want. I don’t actually care,” I voiced as I slashed the sword to two others. “Second, I was indeed from Shadowstone. Or maybe from the jungles of nightshade, whatever it is you want to assume.” Striking two more people down the ground and cutting off their heads together with three women erecting like a statue due to the vines gluing them to the land. “Third, I am a woman but I can also be a man if you wished for it.”
“Arrgghhh!”
“Oh, yes. Scream as if that’s gonna help you.” Directing my hit on every nape my eyes could spot, still, there’s a lot of them and it’s impossible for me to finish all of it by myself. “Edith! Kymil!” I yelled but neither one of them came. I swear… I swear I’m gonna bump their foreheads on each other!
The remaining cadets seem to have acted wisely and cut off the vines creeping on their legs. I irritatedly rolled my eyes and forced another strike with both of my legs as my hand gathered enough balance holding on to one’s shoulder. Driven by trouble, my hands swiftly dashed both the rapiers and it hit more than twice.
I also remembered there were six daggers hidden in my coat, I nabbed two and fleetly lashed the blades on the same spot on their necks. If those two had no plans on coming and even at least help me, I’m gonna cut their tongues once I see them!
“Pardon auntie, I just had to inform the officials on the third line,” whispers a voice that arose from behind me and the next thing I saw was a battalion of shifted werewolves attacking from the west. Then a great part of me sighed in relief, great I would no longer waste time for these traitors.
But before I could even smile, I turned to Kymil and briskly dragged his ears in his wolf form. “You called me what?” Oy, it’s so soft and cottonlike. His wolf was pitch black, he howled and turned to me with those pleading adorable eyes of his. I couldn’t help but let go and pat his head instead.
He sprang away and gashed two of the cadets’ heads off. Aside from the side where the officials emerged, a cluster of trembling traitors gathered up in the east with Edith in their possession. Multiple blades and daggers were pointed and positioned on different parts of her body that in a wrong move, she’ll suffer a great wound.
“Drop your weapons or else we’ll kill the Dieviry!”
I looked around me and there was no one paying attention to the woman who shrieked their threat. “Is it me you’re talking to?” I asked. Kymil just turn and looked at Edith then continued the fight with his own opponent, and it is also what the other officials did. Like they do not care about Edith at all. But it is not really the reason.
“Because if you are, I’d better laugh,” I added and grinned behind the linen covering my face. Perhaps they’ve got the wrong person to threaten. I thought they weren’t as stupid as Malfoy and Kehli?
In a blink of a minute, the cluster of six cadets was thrown in the air and even the blades were flung with them. I quickly leaped in the air and catch one rapier, darting my stares at the woman that badly landed on the ground. Edith squealed and cussed like Camilla seeing a disgusting thing.
“Oh gosh! They made my clothes ruined!” she exclaimed, referring perhaps to the cuts and drops of blood on her shirt. And this is the other side of Dieviry Edith.
I simply chortled but the moment I turned back to attack, an unexpected punch right to my face flew from the same guy who held a rapier across my throat a while ago. It hurts like damn! Under the influence of pain on my cracked nose, I recklessly pinned him down and throw out countless fists on this man’s face until it bleeds to death.
“Adira!”
Again, it was too late for me to turn when another boulder fist hurled on my face and a dagger suddenly buried in my arm. I groaned and annoyedly get up with the only rapier on my hand against three fully-armed ladies, all in a battle suit, and seems like each of them was an expert at drawing swords.
“You’ll pay for this,” voiced the one with chestnut hair and aimed the rapier at me.
I narrowed my eyes and clenched my hands. The bleeding from my arm gradually stopped as I pulled the dagger out and clipped it on the other. “I don’t remember having any debts.” With that, I launched my attack using the rapier that intentionally aims at her legs and quickly uprooted it from her body.
Everything went dark in my eyes and the growls and cries became nothing but cricket sounds. The remaining two slashed and played their swords, walking slowly around me. What kind of time-wasting are they doing?
I furiously take bigger steps and aimed at her stomach. With a quick dodge, I bent and thrust the rapier from behind the second I escaped her view. Before the third one ever have her way closer to me, I turned in an instance and flung the dagger straight to her chest.
“Tell me a good reason to give you a chance to live,” I shakily uttered as I pull the dagger out of her body and she screamed in pain. I struck her down and aimed the dagger again at her throat.
“V-Vander,” she whispered. “H-He wi-will kill the a-alpha.”
Stunned, she suddenly snatches my hand and thrusts the dagger onto her chest on her own. She killed herself. What I thought to be a pain just brought by what she says drummed and burned from within me. An unexplainable kind of throbbing cramp emerged from my belly.
“Adira, you need to get away from here.”
My head raised and saw Edith, her forehead was crumpled and her entire face depicts one thing… troubled anxious.
“You didn’t tell me you’re expecting!” she yelled while supporting my back with her hands.
I felt so weak. Literally. Damn! It’s not even a battalion nor an hour I’ve spent in that combat. “Expecting what?” I asked her, pinching my cheek for any additional pain or maybe it went numb.
“A child, a baby. Adira, you’re pregnant!”
“Shut—” my mouth withdrew words. There I stumbled down the ground and my eyes hit hers stunned. Every inch of my skin began to tremble. In shock, disbelief, and maybe… fear.
“Get up there. We need to get away before the enemy could sense you’re bearing a werewolf child!”
Control on my body left me that I just see myself being dragged away from the camp. Nothing was clear and my thoughts began to rumble again. Horror invaded throughout and is taking over me.
