Chapter 40

"Hey. How was it?" Miel asked Theo when they got inside the cafeteria.
Theo didn't said anything and just showed her his phone, making Miel see his contact list. He successfully got Ahliya's number.
"Oh My God! You're a great flirt!" Miel exclaimed then she rolled her hand around Theo's left arm.
"I thought you're not interested? How come that you got her number easily?" She asked with a low tone so no one can hear her.
"You're right she likes me. It's so obvious with her gestures. So I got it easily." Theodore said. "I thought that Matthew is her boyfriend? Why is she still flirting?" He added with disgust.
"Because she likes attention. I don't know. Maybe she feels like she's a queen when popular guys like you are close to her." Miel explained.
Theodore didn't say anything and just pulled a chair for Miel when they found a vacant table.
"Stay there. I'll go get us food to eat." Theodore said after making sure that Miel is comfortable with her seat.
"Okay. Give me your phone." Miel said.
Theodore gave her his phone and didn't say anything then he left to buy their foods.
Miel opened Theodore's phone and look for his messages, hoping that he already texted Ahliya. She looked for their conversation but she found nothing.
"Seriously?" She said out of disappointment.
Miel sighed and placed Theodore's phone on the table and just waited for him to come back.
Few minutes later, Theodore came back with a tray of food in his hand.
"What's with the face?" Theodore asked. He placed their foods in the table and sat in the chair in front of Miel.
"You got her number early in the morning but you didn't texted her. You're so slow." Miel complained.
"It can wait but classes are not, Miel." He simply answered.
"Arghhh nevermind. Anyway, come to our house. Let's flirt that girl through texts." Miel said and Theodore just answered her with a nod then they started to eat.
After eating and chitchatting in the cafeteria, Theodore and Miel went back to their classrooms for their afternoon classes.
"Good Afternoon everyone." Mrs. Torres said when she went inside the class of grade eleven HUMSS, where Miel and Matthew together with his friends belong.
"Good afternoon, ma'am." Everyone replied.
Mrs. Torres smiled in return and stood up in front, preparing for her announcement.
"We will not have our regular classes starting tomorrow because we will celebrate the 15th year of our school. And as part of this celebration, we will have a pageant and a ball. The theme of this pageant is different kinds of professions. So each section should have a girl and a boy representatives. Each pair of representatives will be given a profession that they will have to portray. The profession that have been given to us is performer. Meaning, it can be singing or dancing or both." Mrs. Torres explained that made the students start murmuring.
"Silence please." Mrs. Torres commanded and everyone followed. "As your assigned adviser, I would like to talk to you about our representatives. Of course we have to choose the best one. As we all know contestants in pageants should have brain and looks. However, this pageant is different as we will only have introduction, talent portion and Q and A since we will only have a short time allotted to this activity." Mrs. Torres explained further.
"The pageant will be held in Friday while the ball will be on Saturday night from six in the evening to ten o'clock." She added.
"So, who do you think is the best to choose among the boys?" Mrs. Torres asked and most of the girls screamed Matthew and Carl's name.
"Oh. We have two options. Let's have----" Mrs. Torres was cut off when Carl raised his hand. "Yes, Carl. Would you like to say something?" She asked.
"I am not interested in this pageant." Carl straightforwardly said that made the girls who screamed his name frown.
"I knew this will happen. He's so snob."
"But he's really handsome."
"Yes! Plus he's smart too. Why is he so introvert? Hmmp."
The girls complained after hearing what Carl have said.
"Okay so I think we'll have Matthew instead?" Mrs. Torres said then she looked at Matthew, waiting for his approval.
"I'm not interested too." Matthew said that made Mrs. Torres sigh.
"Okay. Let's look for our female representative first. Think about it Matthew and Carl. We need to have a representative. If no one still volunteer among the two of you after we find a female representative, I'll make a poll and the one who wins will represent our section and please no buts." Mrs. Torres said that made the two sigh and just agree.
"So, who do you think is the best choice for our female representative-----"Miel! Woooooo!"
Mrs. Torres was interrupted again but this time, with the noises of boys. They're shouting Miel's name.
Miel smiled with the reactions of her boy classmates. No one wants her before. But when she changed, everyone begun to want her.
"Okay. So it is clear. Most of you want Miel to be our representative but how about Miel?" Mrs. Torres said then she looked at Miel. "Are you willing?" She asked.
Miel smiled and nodded her head. "Yes, ma'am." Miel said that made the boys scream more.
"Wooo!!! Miel! Miel! Miel!" They shouted. But what Lucas' said catches the attention of Matthew and Carl.
"Yes! I will volunteer to be her partner! So I can finally hold her hand." Lucas said then he raised his hand.
"Yes, Lucas. Do you like to say something?" Mrs. Torres asked Lucas so he stood up.
"I volunteer, ma'am to be Miel's partner." He said that made Carl and Matthew glare at him.
"Oh. That's great. Thank you for volunteering----"Ma'am." Matthew and Carl said in chorus while raising their hands, interrupting Mrs. Torres again.
Matthew look at Carl because of what he did but Carl just look at him back and boredly looked away after a few seconds of staring at him.
"Yes, Matthew?" Mrs. Torres asked since her sight landed on Matthew first.
"I changed my mind. I volunteer to be our representative too." He said then he sat again and looked at Miel with excitement but Miel ignored him and just stared in front.
His excitement vanished because of what Miel did but he remained cool.
"How about you, Carl? Why did you raised your hand? You will volunteer too?" Mrs. Torres asked Carl.
Matthew immediately glared at him and said. "What? You'll volunteer too?" He whispered.
"Matt. Stop. You know Carl. He doesn't like that kind of stuffs. What makes you think that way?" Angelo said to stop Matthew from arguing with Carl.
Carl looked at Matthew too for a few seconds before he said.. "No, ma'am. I just want to ask you if I can go out? I need to use the comfort room."
Matthew's glare softened after hearing what Carl said.
"See? He doesn't like it. And besides why are you getting mad? What's happening to you? Miel's not your girlfriend anymore." Angelo said to Matthew and that hit him hard.
