|KADENA CHAIN|
"At this part, you can just briefly explain this because it's somehow a self-explanatory and this one over here...,"
I don't know if what he's saying right now is actually staying in my head because as I try not to stare at him, I will totally be out of focus and just hear his voice. Bonus that his gorgeous face is freaking in front of me.
His gaze is on my report that he's reading but mine is all over him. Watching how his lips move whenever he's explaining things to me, how his eyebrows furrow in confusion as if it's also not that clear to him, and how he randomly locks air inside of his mouth to make his cheeks into cute balls.
Why does he easily look finely gorgeous at the same time, looking adorable with that movement on his face?
Am I being bewitched by someone?
"Did you get what I mean?"
"Yup!"
I blink my eyes when he suddenly stops talking. That's when I realize he stops to give back the look I am giving him.
"Uhuh? Something wrong with my face? Again?"
I can't help but secretly pout my lips in embarrassment as my hand automatically moves in the air as it goes directly into his forehead. Making a slight slap on it, pretending that there's a mosquito in there.
"That hurts," I unconsciously bit my lip as I hurriedly get my hands back into my lap.
"I'm sorry. There was a mosquito," I tell him in my small voice.
I look away and get the laptop in his hand.
"Thank you for the help, Raze. If you need anything, I can help you with it. But not today, please. I still need to finish some paper works," I say to him while pretending I'm doing something on my laptop.
To be honest, I did finish most of my paper works for the past few days which caused me to be busy. But I need to tell him that excuse. I still can't take the shock inside me.
I just have to prepare myself and be familiar with my report and that's it. I no longer have something to do after this. But, I can't seem to find my confidence after the embarrassment I faced just now.
"So, you're free tomorrow?"
That causes me to stop moving.
What?
I slowly lift my head to look at him. He has his familiar and signature lopsided smile that he keeps on doing whenever he feels excited or amused. Basing the emotion he has in his eyes, he's amused.
By what?
"Uhm, tomorrow?" I look stupid in front of Raze as I can't seem to find the right words to say with that reply of his.
"Yea. You said 'not today' that tells me you can help me tomorrow with something," he says as he crosses his arms while he leans his back on his chair.
I scratch my knees as my heart goes wild.
"Okay," in the end, that was what I replied.
"Then, see you tomorrow. Kadie?"
Flinching at the name he calls me, I curtly nod my head. His smile widens as he gets up from his chair.
Kadie? Sounds good to me.
"See you,"
"I'm off to go. Good luck with your report,"
I was still looking at the screen on my laptop after Raze has gone off the Library. My mind is still nowhere to be found that's why I ended up shutting the laptop down.
"What the hell did just happen?"
"How was it?"
I almost jump in surprise when the voice of my bitchy friend fills my ears.
"What the hell, Ren?" I curse at her and accidentally call her the nickname that I often use when we met for the first time.
"I'm just asking, Kad. No need to curse me. You didn't even thank me for what I did, tsk!"
I roll my eyes at her as I put my chin on top of my clasp hands.
"You did me a favor, yes. But at least warn me about something like that! I didn't even know what to do, geez!" I complain like it didn't do me good.
Well, saved it to memories.
"You ungrateful brat," I laugh at her as I close my eyes and attempt to sleep on the table.
Silence then rules between us.
My mind suddenly fills with what happened a few days ago.
Dash. A gunshot. A dream. A memory.
I couldn't get it off my mind. I mean, I tried to forget it but I just can't.
I sigh and open my eyes. I look at Foren who's reading a book again but the difference is, it's about Architecture.
Yes, she's taking Architecture. I've always been wondering how can she have time to be with me all the time. I mean, we both have busy schedules day after day. It's good that despite how busy we are, we still find the time.
That causes me to smile.
"Foren, thank you~,"
I suddenly blurt out making her head turns to look at me. Her eyes widen a bit as she smiles at me, sweetly.
"You're welcome and thank you too. For taking good care of me and Chazer,"
We smile at each other before we proceed to our own businesses. A simple appreciation makes the best out of it.
There's nothing wrong in doing that, actually. It only makes you more connected with each other and more comfortable space between us.
My friendship with her is priceless. It doesn't matter if we are both not lucky in life. What matters the most is that we have each other in times of hardship. Helping each other to get over something heavy and dark to something that can make us happy.
She's a friend. A family.
I will never trade anything for something that we have together. As I've said, it's priceless.
"Do you remember when we first met?" I ask her while reminiscing the past.
It was when we were running late for our classes in the afternoon. We were in grade eighth class. We bumped into each other causing our things to fall on the floor.
Considering that we have something important on our hands, we felt pressured. That thing was our dear project in one of our subjects and the deadline was before the time of the first subject in the afternoon. Our project got ruined causing us to be marked lower than average. We both looked at each other sharply.
That day we always get ourselves to our limits until one of us bursts into anger. That's how we develop into being close friends.
"Of course! You were the reason why I got zero!" She exclaims, putting her thick book on the table as she looks at me with a threatening gaze.
Though, she's not serious about that.
"Nah, we got the same score. So?" I raise my brow at her causing us to laugh at each other.
The librarian even shushed us to keep the peace inside the library. We shake our heads looking back to what happened to us that day.
"But because of that zero scores, we became friends! Even closer than ever,"
A soft smile forms on my lips as I look at her. Remembering our memories together until now, I can't help but be a little teary from it. We faced too many things together and looking at how we are now, I can't help but be emotional.
"Yeah, and I'm happy we did," I tell her as I watch her wipe her tears. We laugh again even though there's nothing to laugh at.
"Friends?"
I look at her while laughing. Tears were a bit preventing me to see her clearly. I let out a smile as hot liquids continue to flow down my face. I sniff and extend my right hand for a handshake.
"Friends,"
