I know Alex, he was the fearful type in tough situations, so I knew he's probably already getting ready to be on the move so as to escape my treachery with his family. "Alex, it's me again," I said, my voice low and menacing. "You're running out of time. The detective is on his way to your house, and he's not coming to ask questions. He's coming to arrest you, to take you away from your family and lock you up for good." Alex's voice was laced with panic. "No, no, no! This can't be happening! I thought we had a deal, I thought we were on the same side!" I chuckled, the sound sending a chill down my spine. "You thought wrong, Alex. The detective has been in a rough position all along. He's been using you to get to me, and now that he has what he needs, he's going to discard you like trash." Alex's breathing quickened, his fear palpable. "What do I do? I can't go to prison, I can't leave my family! They need me, they need me to protect them!" I leaned in, my voice taking on a sinister tone. "You don't have to go to prison, Alex. I can help you escape. But you have to listen to me, and you have to do exactly as I say. Can you do that for me, Alex? Can you trust me?" Alex's voice was desperate. "Yes, yes, I'll do anything! Just tell me what to do!" I smiled, my eyes gleaming with excitement. "Good, Alex. Good. First, you need to prepare me a present in a black box, tied up with a red ribbon, put inside the picture of the joker and leave it on the entrance inside your home, then get out of there. Take your family and leave. Don't stop for anything, don't look back. Just keep driving until you reach the media house, expose the detective and those who backed you up in ruining the life of your friend Mr John, now here's where I show you mercy, don't add your name to the list. And then, you'll be free. You'll be safe." Alex's voice was laced with uncertainty. "But what about the detective? He'll find me, he'll..." I laughed again, the sound echoing through the silence. "Don't worry about the detective, Alex. I'll take care of him. I'll make sure he never bothers you again. Just focus on getting out of there alive." As I continued to toy with Alex, my mind wandered to the detective, and the impending showdown that was sure to unfold. I knew that when the detective discovered Alex's betrayal, he would be consumed by a fierce determination to bring him down, to make him pay for his deceit. I could almost see it playing out in my mind's eye - the detective, his eyes blazing with anger and hurt, his jaw clenched in a fierce resolve. He would stop at nothing to expose Alex's treachery, to reveal the truth behind his supposed ally's betrayal. And even though Alex's wealth and connections might ultimately protect him from the detective's wrath, I knew that the detective would at least manage to weaken his standing, to tarnish his reputation and leave him vulnerable. The thought sent a thrill through me, a sense of satisfaction and glee. For I had set this entire scenario in motion, had orchestrated the events that would lead to this inevitable confrontation. I had played on Alex's fears, had manipulated him into betraying the detective. And now, the detective would do my dirty work for me, would take down Alex and leave him ripe for the picking. It was a beautiful game, one that I had mastered long ago. And as I waited for the final act to unfold, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. For I was the puppet master, the one pulling the strings from behind the scenes. And soon, I would emerge victorious, my enemies vanquished and my power solidified. I made my way to Alex's home, my heart racing with anticipation. I knew that Alex might have already fled, but I had to see this scene play out for myself. I found a hidden spot at the top of a nearby building, where I could observe the scene unfolding below without being detected. As I looked down, I saw the detective and his team of police officers gathered outside Alex's house. They were armed and ready, their eyes fixed on the house as if they were waiting for something - or someone. I smiled to myself, knowing that I had set this whole scene in motion. I had told the detective that I would be coming for Alex, and now he was here, ready to take me down, such a pity for him. But little did the detective know, I was the one watching him from the shadows. I was the one with the upper hand. I pulled out my phone and started recording the scene below. I zoomed in on the detective's face, his eyes narrowed and focused on the house. I could almost see the determination in his eyes, the fierce resolve to catch his prey. And then, I sent the clip to Alex. I wanted him to know that I wasn't playing around, that the detective was indeed coming for him. But what Alex didn't know was that the detective was actually here for me, not him. I chuckled to myself as I watched the scene unfold. The detective was so focused on catching me that he didn't even realize he was being played. He didn't know that I was the one pulling the strings, that I was the one who had set this whole thing in motion. And as I watched, I knew that this was just the beginning. This was just the first move in a game of cat and mouse, a game that would only end when one of us was left standing.
