Homepage/Mom: Untold Story/
Chapter 28: The Escape.
With Jerry gone for almost five minutes now, panic was the next thing I clinged onto, hands shaking, feet moving around the room and thoughts elsewhere.
“ I know you, I have seen you before, what are you doing here?.....”
I turned around to see my mom awake, those big eyes staring at me, yeah..... She knows me as the guy that always comes to visit her, but after that, nothing else, she even forget whatever information she has given me, always repeating them often and often.
“ Hello Ma'am, it's me, Bruno, your friend ”.
“ Friend?..... I never knew I have friends, you just looks familiar, that's all ”.
I was still panicking, but I believe I should stop if I don't want her to freak out and getting attention towards my location. “ I'm happy you still remembers me, last time we was together, you was telling me about your beautiful handsome boy, I'm hear to listen to all you had to say, since I wasn't here for you to finish them last time.....”
Seeing the smile come unto her feature shows that she does remember what I was talking about or she's just happy that I mentioned her boy.
“ I definitely can't remember when you was talking about, but mentioning my boy shows that you were really here, so bad I can't remember where I stopped last time, but I will just tell you whatever that comes to mind.....”.
I carried the bags and moved around the bed without her asking questions, I pushed them under the bed and sat next to her, you've to hold yourself together Bruno, you don't have to panic, Jerry got this, he always does.
I sat there, two minutes remaining and my mom was still speaking, not minding that she's just waking up. I heard the door bang open, which scared the hell out of me as I almost jumped out of my skin, it was the nurse that looks like an intern and one of the armed men, they were staring at us and me back at them, tension aroused and I am beginning to find it hard to breathe because of the guilt troubling me.
“ Oh..... I'm sorry, but have you seen your uncle?....”, the nurse asked while the armed man watched. I forced myself to wave my head signalling no. “ The nurse says that I should remain here while they look for him....”.
“ Ok.... I'm sorry for the intrusion, make sure she gets to sleep before you leave you hear?....”.
I agreed with her with a nod, then they closed the door, it sounds like it was locked, my mom was still in shock, so I decided to calm her down, telling her that it's all going to be alright, luckily, she was at peace, her hand placed on her chest. Remembering all Jerry had told me, I'm really pissed at her, for the kind of woman she was, she definitely doesn't deserve love if all Jerry said was true, but still yet, she's my mom and I have to accept her in because she's the reason I am still hear, both then and now.
I went to the door, I tried opening it, but found out it was locked from the outside, fear gripped me, the ten minutes were over and I am still locked in here, panic takes over me again, much worse than before, if those nurses comes back here, then it's my doom, there would be no escape for me because they knew I have a hand in this.
Seating down and regretting how I happened to get myself into this mess, the door unlocked from the outside and I hid behind my mom who was now looking around the room confused, fear in her eyes and panic gripping her too, she was scared, like really scared that she was now in tears, Jerry came inside, his face covered in blood, his outfit too.
“ Gimme the bags!.... Give me the f**king bags immediately!...”.
I did as he asked, pushing them out from under the bed, holding onto my mom to calm her down. “ Look after her, come back to the hideout before six in the morning, I have never said this before because I have no need to, but you've got to trust me.....”
I know him, I know Jerry, he's full of himself and got no reason to plead for anything, not even at the point of death where a gun is pointed to his head, but right now, right now he's pleading, he's pleading I listen to him, I don't know why I did this, but I accepted his plea, gave up the bag and let him leave the room, he locked it from outside just the way it was when he came here and left with the bags.
I have to let him go, I don't know about my fate right now, but all I know is that I am free from him for good this time, ask me how I know, I don't know, but I have that feeling that I have paid him his debt. If he was caught, it's his burden, if he makes it out alive, it's his luck, but looking from the gunshots coming from outside before I came in here, I don't think Jerry has a chance of succeeding.
Turns out in here was sound proof, even all the patients rooms are too, because if not, they would be possibly disturbing the night. I turned around to look at my mom, she was lying down, eyes opened wide and hands spread apart, she wasn't moving but her nose was bleeding, sending shock all over my body, I ran to her, shaking her to wake up, but it was of no use, she's gone, my mom is gone. Scream erupted from my throat, I screamed to the point I couldn't hear my voice anymore, before I realize it, it was pitch black.Download Novelah App
