Chapter 18 Family meeting

Lara stepped out of the house and settled herself on a fluffy cloud, gazing at her wristwatch intently. The hours dragged on as she patiently waited for the clock to strike 7 pm. At the exact moment, she gracefully leaped down from the cloud, adorned in a stunning red gown that had seemingly materialized out of thin air. Meanwhile, Steve drove to Lara’s house and was taken aback when he found her standing on the road, an unmistakable sadness etched across her face.
Concerned, Steve parked the car and stepped out, approaching Lara. “What’s the matter? You don’t seem happy,” he inquired, his voice filled with genuine worry.
Lara mustered a faint smile and replied, “I’ll be fine. Can we go, please?” Steve held the car door open for her, and they both got inside. As he started the engine, he couldn’t help but wonder about the reason she had been standing there, waiting for him. However, he decided not to press the issue, respecting her space.
They embarked on their journey, Steve driving cautiously while his mind wandered. The enigma of Lara’s behavior lingered in the air, filling him with curiosity. Eventually, they arrived at Steve’s house, and Lara was captivated by its resemblance to her own home—a grand mansion that resembled a majestic castle. Unbeknownst to her, Max’s parents, Silas and Ellen, were eagerly anticipating the arrival of their son and his girlfriend for a delightful dinner together.
As Lara and Steve entered the house, they were greeted warmly by Silas and Ellen, who had been waiting eagerly. Silas, a distinguished gentleman with a warm smile, extended his hand to Lara. “Welcome, Lara. We’re delighted to finally meet you. Steve as told us so much about you,” he said, his voice filled with genuine warmth.
Ellen, an elegant and graceful woman, embraced Lara gently. “Yes, we’ve been looking forward to this moment,” she added, her eyes sparkling with kindness. “Please make yourself at home. ”
Lara felt a sense of comfort and belonging as she stepped into their lavish home. The ambiance was enchanting, with soft music playing in the background, and the aroma of a delicious meal filled the air. She couldn’t help but admire the exquisite beauty of the place.
Ellen excused herself for a moment, disappearing into her room. She returned shortly, adorned in a radiant gown that perfectly complemented her graceful demeanor. Her hair was styled elegantly, and her smile was captivating. “Now, Lara, let’s not keep everyone waiting,” she said, extending her arm gracefully. “Join us for a splendid dinner.”
Lara felt both honored and nervous as she took Ellen’s arm. Together, they entered the dining room, where the table was set lavishly with fine china, glistening silverware, and flickering candles. The atmosphere exuded a romantic charm.
As they sat down to enjoy their meal, the conversation flowed effortlessly. Silas regaled everyone with stories from his travels, while Ellen engaged Lara in heartfelt conversations about her interests and aspirations. The warmth and acceptance from Steve's parents eased any apprehensions Lara had carried.
Between bites of the delectable cuisine, Steve and Lara stole glances at each other, their eyes communicating a depth of affection and connection. The soft music and candlelight set the stage for an intimate moment.
Feeling the tender ambiance, Silas raised his glass and proposed a toast. “To love and the beautiful journey it takes us on,” he said, his voice tinged with emotion. They all clinked their glasses together, savoring the shared joy and celebrating the blossoming connection between Steve and Lara.
As the evening progressed, the laughter filled the air, intermingling with whispers of love and dreams for the future. Time seemed to stand still as they savored each other’s company, nourishing not only their bodies with the delicious food but also their souls with the warmth of companionship.
After a delightful dinner at Silas and Ellen’s house, Silas and Ellen bid Lara and Steve farewell, granting them some much-needed time alone together. As the evening progressed, Lara, having indulged in copious amounts of human food, felt a pang of guilt for subjecting her divine body to such earthly pleasures. She realized that this might be her last chance to persuade Steve to leave his mortal life behind and join her in the world of gods and goddesses.
Though initially doubtful of Steve’s willingness to abandon his family, Lara’s faith in their love reassured her. She believed that Steve’s devotion to her would ultimately lead him to make the life-altering decision to be by her side. With nightfall approaching, Lara made the decision to spend the night at Steve’s house, especially since her consumption of human delicacies left her feeling less than divine.
Noticing Lara’s reluctance to part ways, Steve promptly instructed his maid to prepare a guest room for Lara’s stay. However, Lara declined the offer and insisted on sleeping in Steve’s own room, yearning to be as close to him as possible.
Lara found herself comfortably nestled on Steve’s plush bed, her body sinking into the softness as weariness settled in. Meanwhile, Steve couldn’t help but gaze at her with a mixture of desire and adoration. The sight of her lying there, her features illuminated by a warm glow, stirred a longing deep within him.
As Steve continued to watch Lara, his yearning for her intensified. The desire to be close to her, to experience a deep and passionate connection, overwhelmed him. Slowly and tenderly, he approached her, his heart pulsing with anticipation.
With gentle and affectionate gestures, Steve began to draw Lara into a romantic dance. Their eyes locked, communicating a silent language of love and intimacy. The room became charged with an electric energy, as their bodies gravitated towards each other.
In the intimate dimness, their lips met in a series of tender kisses. Time seemed to stand still as they explored the depths of their passion, their entwined bodies speaking volumes of their mutual affection. Lost in the moment, they continued to exchange soft caresses, their hearts beating in harmony.
As the night progressed, their exhaustion finally caught up with them. They found solace in each other’s arms and drifted into a peaceful slumber, their bodies intertwined, creating a cocoon of warmth and contentment.
Unbeknownst to them, in the stillness of the night, a figure appeared at the window. As Lara stirred slightly, her eyes fluttering open, she noticed Lucy standing outside. Startled and attempting to spy on Steve’s actions, Lucy couldn’t help but let out a shout, “I’m too late!”
Lara’s eyes widened in surprise, her attention abruptly shifting to Lucy. Confusion washed over her as she tried to comprehend the situation. What had Joan been hoping to see? What did she mean by being too late? Before she could gather her thoughts, Lucy quickly vanished from sight, fading away into the darkness as if realizing she had missed her chance.
Lara glanced at Steve, who was now awakening beside her, his gaze filled with curiosity. Together, they pondered the significance of Lucy’s sudden appearance and outburst. Something mysterious was unfolding, and they knew they had to unravel the secrets that lay hidden beneath the surface.
With a mix of concern and determination, Lara rose from the bed, making her way towards the window. She cast a cautious glance outside, searching for any traces of Lucy. The night air held a sense of anticipation, as if whispering of imminent revelations. Unbeknownst to her, Lucy, now invisible and waiting, remained nearby, hoping for a chance to return to the dark realm, her mission unfulfilled.
As she waits, she noticed nothing seems to be pulling her back to the dark realm, it then drawn on her that Steve was never Lara true love kiss. Her mind then drifted to Collins.
“Oh no, I told him I would visit him by 7pm” said Lucy. “Now that I have seen Steve isn’t Lara true love, this is my chance in making Collins direct his affection for her towards me” Laughed evilly. “its time to change my plans” she concluded.
Lucy whom had no idea of Lara going to be in Steve house wanted to shape shift into Grace so as to lure him into bed, after she had seen how much Steve love Grace, she wanted to use that against him, she had earlier appeared to Grace in her house in the form of Steve, convincing her they should get back together. Now she intended in doing likewise by making herself available for him to lay with. For sex had been the reason of their break up, Grace had denied him the very thing she plans in using against him, after which she would compare Grace to believe they had sex and she is no longer a virgin. Gladly all this she won’t need to continue especially now Lara had kissed the Wrong love. This only gives her enough time in getting Collins to be hers, meanwhile Collins had no more interest in her after hearing all his father said about Lara, he believed he could be Lara true love kiss. Lucy vanished away fulfilled.
At daybreak, Lara woke up, expecting to find herself in her own bed. As she looked at herself, she realized that she wasn’t dreaming—the intimate moment with Steve had indeed happened, evident by her half-naked state. Steve, still sound asleep, remained unaware of Lara’s departure from his house.
Deciding to fly back to Max’s house, Lara made her way to the front door. Just as she was about to leave, someone called out her name. She turned around and saw Stella standing there.
“I waited for you for hours, but you didn’t return until Max told me everything. Have you come to say goodbye to him?” Stella asked.
“Where is Max?” Lara inquired.
“He’s getting ready for work. There’s something I need to tell you. Can we go inside?” Stella requested.
Lara walked into the house and settled on the couch, waiting for Stella to speak. Max emerged, surprised to see her.
“Princess, didn’t you kiss him?” Max questioned.
“Yes, I did. I expected to be home by now, but no portal has opened, and my father hasn’t contacted me,” Lara replied.
“Have you tried reaching out to him?” Max suggested.
“Before you try to contact your father, the king, Lara, I want to apologize for my actions yesterday,” Stella said.
“I’ve already forgiven you,” Lara assured her.
As Lara looked into Stella’s eyes, she sensed an undercurrent of sadness.
“What’s troubling you?” Lara asked.
“I think there’s someone at our school named Joan who is like you. She used her powers to make us, the staff, unaware of her presence. I don’t know what she looks like, and the staff doesn’t recognize her. Jane mentioned that she is in your class. I believe she came for you. Can you please ask her to undo whatever she has done to us?” Stella explained.
“Joan, like me? That can’t be. She’s just a human like you,” Lara laughed dismissively.
However, Max interjected, adding his own opinion. “I still think she could be the person your father mentioned, the one who cursed you. Why don’t you accompany Stella to the school to confirm if the teachers are under a spell?”
“I’ve been going to that school and haven’t sensed any magical activity. However, for your sake, I’ll go,” Lara conceded.
Lara followed Stella to the school. As they sat in Stella’s car, Lara closed her eyes and tapped into her inner sight, searching for anything unusual in the school. To her surprise, she saw Stella’s eyes covered by a white scar.
“What kind of magic is this?” Lara exclaimed, staring at Stella’s eyes.
“What do you see?” Stella asked anxiously.
“It’s a strange magic that I’ve never encountered before. I need to speak with my father immediately,” Lara replied.
“Do you believe me now?” Stella questioned.
“I never said you were lying,” Lara clarified.
Without hesitation, Lara teleported back to her room and began calling out to her father, Arthur. She called repeatedly, but there was no response. She then called out to her mother, yet still received no answer. Confused and growing increasingly concerned, she sat down on her bed, contemplating the situation.
Gradually, Lara began to piece things together. Joan’s visit to Steve’s house and her exclamation of being “too late” could only mean one thing—Joan wasn’t Joan at all but Lucy, a formidable adversary from her realm.
