Chapter 18 Birthday
THAT MORNING, before they were busy with their business outside, Mami Smirnov and Papi Eraisuli argued loudly about their son's birthday. But because the problem was quite confidential, the husband and wife spoke in whispers.
"Papa is too busy, so he forgets important things like this," Mami grumbled.
"Why, Mami, who is often at home, forgets too much? This should be Mami's job," said Papi.
"Who said Mami is often at home?"
Before Mr. Eraisuli answered, suddenly Vladd came down from his room upstairs while carrying his subnotebook. Vladd is ready for school.
Both of them immediately shut up. Only Mr. Eraisuli whispered again to his wife, "Okay, don't panic, we still have one day."
Smirnov nodded. Then, as if nothing was wrong, he reprimanded his son. "Hey, Gorgeous, don't go anywhere tomorrow, okay?" Vladd, coolly sitting at the dining table, was eating a sandwich filled with sliced meat. "Why, where does Vladd like to go all this time, Mam? Vladd's life journey is from home to school, from school to home..."
Mami Smirnov laughed dryly. "Alaaaah, you like to be vague, Vladd. I mean, Mami, tomorrow is your special day, your birthday. How could you forget...?" "No, Vladd didn't forget. But Vladd is just normal." "Eh, you can't just be mediocre! This party must be celebrated." Mami Smirnov then got up and called Maryati. "Maaaar, come here! Bring the invitations too!"
Maryati came in a hurry. His hand carried a stack of invitations.
Mami then handed the invitation to Vladd.
"Well, give this invitation to all your school friends. Oh yes, how many students are there in your school? One thousand? Two thousand? Ten thousand? Anyway, invite everyone..."
Vladd was confused looking at the pile of invitations in his hand. "Mom, what's the matter? Is this an annual birthday invitation or a demonstration? How come there are so many?"
"Yes, Mam, it's better to just invite close friends. Vladd's classmates are only seven or eight people...," said Mr. Eraisuli in support of Vladd.
Before his wife had answered, Maryati, who knew everything, suddenly opened her mouth, "I'm sorry, Aunt Mar, I wanted to give you some advice. Vladd's school is a school for rich people.... If everyone is invited, the gifts will definitely be lots, and good-
all good..."
Papi Eraisuli and Mami Smirnov looked at Maryati. Vladd immediately snorted. "Vladd doesn't want a gift!"
"Why don't you want it? But the party wants it, right?" Smirnov said. "No!"
Smirnov's mother really hates her son's stubbornness. He finally gave in. "Okay, you bring enough. But just so you know, this house can still accommodate a thousand guests." .
Vladd took about ten invitations, then he turned around.
That afternoon Zuleha, the Vladd family cook, was busy cooking in the sophisticated and complete kitchen. His clothes are typical, a tall chef's hat and a white apron. Maryati, in the style of a ceremonial inspector, entered while checking the menus that her subordinates were making. His style is really boring.
"Zuleha, the sixteen tier tarts are ready?" asked Maryati suddenly.
Zuleha, who didn't know about Maryati's appearance, was shocked. Then answered nervously, "I-I'll make the dry cakes first, then make the sixteen tier ones."
"Well, that should be the tart first, then the others. The level should be according to age. Don't be like last year, on your fifteenth birthday, you only made a tart for fourteen. You had to add a cork to make it fit fifteen!" explained Maryati.
Zuleha frowned. "Well, if it's his fifth birthday, the cake might be as tall as a house!"
"It doesn't matter! Anyway, make the sixteen tier tart first, then the others. Understand? I want to check the others," said
Maryati walked out of the kitchen. Zuleha groaned as she looked at Maryati who was acting busy leaving.
Meanwhile in the front yard, the gardener Narsakip was busy
arrange the position of flower pots and occasionally cut dry leaves.
Her clothes are trendy, with flower motifs. Maryati comes
with a fierce and firm attitude.
"Narsakip!"
"Aye, Mar. Can I help you?" Narsakip asked respectfully.
"Where is the pot of sixteen-colored roses that should be placed near the entrance?"
"Only three colors, Mrs. Mar, it's hard to find sixteen color roses."
"You know, last year on Den Vladd's fifteenth birthday you could get roses in fifteen colors!" _
"Yes, but in the past they were plastic roses, Mar, I just sprayed the color with Pilox."
"Now I want something fresh, real, and it has to be sixteen different colors!" Maryati said firmly, then immediately turned around, leaving Narsakip scratching his head in confusion.
During chemistry class at school, the children in Vladd's class were busy in the large and clean chemistry laboratory. They wear labjas. White shirt with two pockets on the bottom left and right. Everyone seemed engrossed in practical activities, except James, who was busy seducing Marigold.
"If my heart is the contents of this bottle," said James while taking a bottle, "and your heart is the contents of this bottle..." he said again while taking another bottle, "then our hearts are this..."
James then mixed the two liquids. Marigold looked at the liquid that had turned dirty. "So stupid!" Marigold immediately left James.
James froze, then looked at the solution mixture. "Yeah, yeah, really ugly..."
Meanwhile, Su Yin was busy burning a petri dish filled with solution. He was flanked by Vladd and Yudiantara who were also busy watching Su Yin.
Su Yin put the test paper into the cup. "Eh, Vladd, it turns out the color of the paper has changed, you know..."
Yudiantara jumped in and answered, "The sign is that the nature of the solution has also changed from acid to base." "I know too!" Su Yin said curtly.
"If you don't tell me, how will you know?" Yudiantara replied.
"You're so smart, I was talking to Vladd and you were the one who answered."
"I'm really smart. Huh, it's only Vladd who's a genius! Besides, this is a sign that I care, unlike Mr. Bangke," grumbled Yudiantara.
Mr Bangke? Why, Mr Bangke? Olala, it turns out that Vladd's teacher was actually sleeping while laying his head on the supervisor's desk. That's outrageous, instead of looking after the practicum students, they're sleeping. Most of the night I watch VCDs until morning.
Marigold, who also saw Mr. Bangke sleeping, suddenly relapsed. "Let's just do it, come on. We've already paid millions in tuition fees, eh, the teacher is this lazy."
"Yeah, just do it. Let's get tired of it," Yudiantara agreed.
"No, it's a shame, isn't it..." Su Yin, who couldn't bear it the most, tried to stop her.
Vladd just kept quiet. The thing is, he had actually been looking for a moment to give birthday invitations to his friends. But for some reason, Vladd was too lazy to share the invitation. Afraid of making a scene. You know, miscreants like Perry CS really enjoy embarrassing Vladd. So Vladd just reached for a stack of invitations in his labjas' right pocket, then put them back in.
Meanwhile, in the corner, Mr. Bangke started snoring, so much so that he could be heard everywhere. The children were confused, trying to figure out how to trick Mr. Bangke. After a while, Vladd couldn't stand it, he wanted to play pranks too. He quietly slipped behind a high shelf, then pointed the remote at a red liquid. Vladd's finger pressed the fly button. So, the thick red solution in the tube flew towards Mr Bangke who was busy snoring. Right above Mr Bangke's head the solution was ready to be spilled. But suddenly Mr. Bangke woke up and started dancing. Frankly, Vladd was shocked. His hands were shaking. The stop button on the remote was quickly pressed again. So, the tube containing the liquid was stiff above Mr. Bangke. Mr. Bangke looked left and right, then asked the children who were practicing.
"Where's the flying saucer?" Mr. Bangke then grinned to himself. "Eh, sorry, I dreamed something was floating above my head."
Vladd was clearly shaking. The remote control was hurriedly put into his labjas pocket. The kids didn't catch on, except for Perry, who
His eyes immediately widened, whether he believed it or not when he saw a tube filled with liquid floating above Mr. Bangke's head.
Mr. Bangke yawned and went back to sleep, "Okay, you guys just practice again. Zzzzz."
Perry hurriedly raised his hand. "Sir, there are..."
But it's no use, Mr. Bangke has quickly flown off into dreamland. While Perry's eyes were still focused on the tube containing the red liquid, Vladd silently pointed his remote at the tube while pressing the drop button. The contents of the tube spilled onto Mr Bangke's head. Perry almost screamed in surprise, but he didn't know what he wanted to say.
The red liquid flowed down from the head to the mouth. Mr. Bangke licked until he felt choked. Finally he woke up with a start. His hand rubbed his face. As soon as his eyes saw his red hands, he screamed. "Help!"
All the children were shocked and turned to Mr. Bangke.
"Who hit my head? Who hammered my head?" said Mr. Bangke hysterically. "You really are cruel children. The teacher was sleeping, why was he hit on the head... You... Help!" The children looked at each other,
Confused. Perry, who knew what had happened, immediately opened his mouth, "Sir, that's not..."
"I don't want to hear excuses. Help...! Oh, it hurts so much. There's so much blood... Help...!" .
Mr. Bangke couldn't continue what he was talking about, because he was in a hurry
faint. The children looked at each other.
"Who did you do it? It's a shame, isn't it," said Nanda.
"Yeah, inhumane!" added Nandi.
"Just leave it alone. Besides, instead of teaching us, he's sleeping," said Marigold.
"But what if Mr. Bangke runs out of blood? You're really cruel. Come on, take him to the hospital. Wonder, who would have the heart to hit his own teacher on the head?" Su Yin cursed.
Perry immediately calmed the audience, "Calm down, calm down, this is not it
blood.... III-this is the fluid in the tube. I saw a tube floating earlier,
then the contents spilled onto Mr. Bangke's head."
Everyone was stunned. "Ah, it's a joke. It's a joke. How can the tube float!" "Beneeer. Why don't you believe it? There must be someone who has the inner power to move objects until they levitate."
Perry looked at Su Yin, then Su Yin shook her head not understanding. Perry turned to Vladd. Vladd was silent, tense, but then quickly shook his head.
"Okay, you don't need to be too suspicious. It's better if we practice again." So, the children let Mr. Bangke faint.
Surprisingly, a short time later Mr. Bangke's fainting event had progressed to a deep sleep. Snoring again.
The children had fun doing practical work again. Vladd started to reach into his right labjas pocket again, wanting to give an invitation. But when he saw that his friends were serious, he gave up his intention. Perry, who seemed to be getting bored of struggling with the solution, started idly looking at Vladd's labjas pocket. There is an object sticking out of the left labjas pocket. Perry approached Vladd slowly from behind.
As soon as he was close, his hand immediately reached into Vladd's labjas pocket and took Vladd's remote control. Vladd is shocked! "Per, turn it over. That's not a game," said Vladd panicked.
"It's not a game! You brought the TV remote here. Eh, guys, Vladd brought the TV remote. You're a strange kid, Vladd!" Perry teased.
"Wow, maybe his mother doesn't watch telenovelas!" James giggled. "Per, turn it over!"
Instead of turning it back, Perry just pressed the remote. "Per, don't squeeze... It's dangerous," Vladd screamed in panic.
"What's the matter, kid, I just took the TV remote, I'm scared! Eh, there are lots of ones like this in flea markets, you know!"
Annoyed, Perry immediately threw the remote control into the solution contained in the large vessel. Vladd glared. "Peeer, don't...."
But the remote control had entered the solution in a large vessel, producing bubbles like a drowning object. Vladd hurriedly wanted to dip his hand into the vessel, but Su Yin quickly held back. "No, Vladd! That's an acid solution! You'll hurt your hands. You'll only be left with bones!"
Vladd finally gave up his plans. And he really wanted to cry seeing his remote in the solution. A moment later, the solution changed color. And suddenly there was an electric current running through the solution, out of the remote control...
The longer the electric sparks, the more there will be. All eyes looked surprised and tense.
Vladd had a feeling something was going to happen. He immediately got up and pulled Su Yin outside.
"Everyone, come on out!" Vladd shouted. The children were still stunned. Meanwhile, smoke was starting to come out of the vessel the size of an aquarium. "Come on, run!"
Perry and all the children immediately ran through the lab door. Meanwhile the smoke was rising and electric sparks started to spark from the remote in the solution. That's when Mr Bangke woke up from his stupor. "Why, how come it's quiet? Where to? Huk-huk, how come there's smoke?" The children - all of whom were still wearing labjas - immediately ran onto the field. When they reached the grass field, they immediately lay down. And a moment later, an explosion was heard from inside the laboratory.
After the explosion was over, a creature emerged from the direction of the laboratory. His face was black. His hair is shiny. His clothes were torn to shreds, like most explosion victims. He is Mr Bangke.
Mr. Bangke shouted in annoyance, "You guys are going too far..." It was over
shouted like that, he immediately went limp, fainted again.
Vladd doesn't care anymore. He got up and ran towards the laboratory, wanting to see the remote control. Perry followed behind. The magic remote was found on the charred floor of the laboratory. The remote was also burnt. Vladd tried to press the buttons. But the remote didn't react. Vladd is really sad. He realized that the remote could no longer be used. Vladd looked at the remote in confusion. Perry came closer and noticed his attitude.
"Vladd, I'm sorry, okay? What brand is the TV in your house? I'll buy you the remote later, or do you want the TV as well?" said Perry, feeling guilty.
Vladd didn't answer. He got up carrying the remote. His eyes started to get red. Perry, who originally wanted to follow, didn't dare.
"Vladd, do I need to get a repairman to fix your remote?" Vladd continued walking. His heart is sad. He walked away, alone, down the corridor. His eyes were wet. When he passed the trash can, he reached for the invitation cards that were still stored in the right pocket of his labjas. He looked at the cards, then tore them up and threw them in the trash.
Mami Smirnov and Maryati are busy arranging the living room for the guests who will come for Vladd's birthday. Lukijo is seen putting up balloons.
"Set it up correctly! Don't let the balloons block the guests' view!" Smirnov ordered.
"Yes, Nya. Besides, this balloon can be placed on top. How come there are guests who are as tall as Atep?" said Lukijo.
"Mar, have you sent an invitation to my regular courier?" asked Smirnov. Maryati nodded.
"And you also check, don't let any guests have the same hair color as mine!" "Yes, nya, they are all average colors, only Madam is light green! How many people are you actually inviting, Madam?"
"A thousand people! And thousands of them must accept today's invitation!"
Just then the door to the house opened. Vladd entered with a sad face, not enthusiastic. Smirnov immediately greeted, "Vladd, are you home, Honey? You have to try on the clothes that Donatela Versace made especially for you..."
"No need, Mi, it will definitely fit Vladd's body," said Vladd with a smile. Then he looked around. "What are you doing, Mi?"
"What are you doing? Yes, dressing up the house. Remember, tomorrow a thousand guests will come to your birthday..."
"No need, Mi, there's no need to celebrate. Vladd is already big. It's embarrassing."
"If it's not celebrated, Mami will be the one embarrassed."
"Basically, Vladd doesn't want a big celebration. Vladd's school friends won't come either. It's better to donate the money," said Vladd as he wandered into the room. Smirnov was confused by his son's attitude. "What's wrong, Vladd? Gorgeous..." Vladd didn't answer. He was already rushing up the stairs to his room.
That night in his room, while wrapping a gift for Vladd, Smirnov complained about Vladd's attitude to Eraisuli.
"This child has been strange since he was born. Do you know, suddenly he didn't want to celebrate his birthday. The reason: shame!" Smirnov grumbled. With a calm attitude, while continuing to help his wife wrap the gifts, Mr. Eraisuli said, "Maybe he was bored, from the first to the tenth birthday, there were no less than a thousand guests. So, now he wants to celebrate in a special way..."
"Well, this is already a tradition. At first Mami wanted to invite two thousand
person; Mami's relations in Japan, Singapore, language course friends
English, German, and Urdu... even Mami's gym friends
I've sent an invitation..."
"It's true, Mam," teased Eraisuli.
"That's not much. Mami's picnic friends were also invited, they must have prepared a gift for Vladd."
Eraisuli looked at Smirnov closely. "Actually, is it Mami's birthday or Vladd's? Why are all Mami's friends invited, and... the one who
Mommy is adamant too." "Why, Mami is her mother. Mami's goal is to make Vladd happy..."
"If he's happier without having a party, what? Once in a while the three of us will have fun. Mami, Papi and Vladd have dinner at home..." "But the invitations have already been sent," explained Smirnov. "You can
called one by one to cancel it..." Smirnov remained silent. Then,
they continued wrapping gifts.
Meanwhile in his room, Vladd was sending an e-mail to Spaceboy. He explained the problem. Turn on the remote. How it works remotely, complete with ingredients. Vladd felt sad and couldn't repair the remote he had worked so hard to assemble. He thinks Spaceboy must be a genius. Who knows, maybe that space kid might help him...
Vladd's big birthday event was not held. Smirnov only chose to have dinner together with his children and husband. Mami Smirnov wears an evening dress and her hair is dyed orange. Papi Eraisuli wore a full jacket, and Vladd wore nice clothes. They were at a round dining table which was arranged in a luxurious and elegant manner.
They seemed to be enjoying dinner set with candles in the middle of the table, except for Vladd who was eating lazily. "You're sick, aren't you?" Smirnov scolds his son. Vladd shook his head.
"If the food isn't delicious, don't waste it."
Eraisuli hurriedly whispered softly to Vladd, "Remember Papi's teachings, don't let everything go to waste... Eat slowly, you'll finish it."
Vladd nodded. Finally, he was able to finish the food. But his face was still not happy.
"Time to open the presents! Maryati, bring the presents here." Maryati came with a tray filled with gifts. Mami Smirnov took a gift and gave it to Vladd. "This is from Mami. Come on, open it."
Vladd opened the gift without enthusiasm.
Turns out it was filled with basketball.
"That's a basketball specially signed by Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman. You can play basketball with it as much as you like." Vladd just smiled faintly. Vladd's face is normal. Vladd doesn't really like basketball, so who cares about Michael Jordan or Dennis Rodman? It's like a mother who doesn't know her child.
Meanwhile, Papi Eraisuli took a package and handed it over to Vladd. "This is from Papa... You can open it here. Come on, don't be embarrassed."
Vladd opened the gift. But he still wasn't enthusiastic. It turns out it contained boxing gloves. There's his signature. "Originally Mike Tyson's! It has his signature, and it's his favorite boxing glove. Dad bought it just for you... Maybe when you grow up you can be
boxer...."
Vladd frowned. The gift he received was strange. Don't they know that Vladd doesn't like sports?
Maryati handed over a gift. "This is from Bik Mar, Lukijo, Narsakip, and Zuleha... Open it, please..."
Vladd opened it. Still not enthusiastic. It turns out it contains a framed caricature of Vladd. "Thanks, Sis..." Vladd answered briefly. "Narsakip is the one who hires people to draw pictures of Mas Vladd's looks. Similar, right?" said Maryati excitedly.
Vladd nodded, and tried to smile.
Seeing Vladd who was in a bad mood, Mami Smirnov quickly changed the atmosphere. "Well, now it's time to eat tarts! Mar, take out those sixteen tiered tarts!" Maryati was stunned. "Why, it's already finished, nya, the children from the village behind it ate it..." "The children from the village?" Smirnov was shocked.
"Ho-oh, Mas Vladd was the one who told me to give it to the village children...," said Narsakip.
Mami Smirnov and Papi Eraisuli looked at Vladd deeply. Vladd just looked down.
Vladd entered his room with a sad face. The gift in his arms was thrown onto the bed in disappointment. He saw that his computer didn't give any reaction, a sign that there was no answer from Spaceboy yet.
Vladd walked to the light switch, wanted to turn off the light and go straight to sleep. That's when the voice "You've got mail!" from his computer. Vladd hurried to his computer. It turns out there is an answer from Spaceboy.
"Happy sixteenth birthday, Vladd. Sorry, I couldn't come. Don't be sad, your remote can be fixed...
Tomorrow I'll stop by your room. I'll help you fix the remote..." Vladd breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thanks, Spaceboy, this is the most enjoyable birthday present for me." Vladd couldn't wait for Spaceboy to arrive the next day.Download Novelah App
