Chapter 36

Clarriese Zyah's POV
I leisurely open my eyes after gaining my consciousness back after a long nap. I feel sleepy, maybe because I am exhausted from crying and drained from my travels. I got out of bed. The wound in my heart is still fresh and the pain is too deep. I am feeling heavy.
I could feel like I could lose my mind in any minute. There are a lot of loud thoughts inside my head that made me feel even worse.
"Why did you do that such thing?" I heard Dwight's question when I went out from Ellaine's room.
Ellaine's house is not that big but it was exquisitely built. Everything here is properly designed and I am convinced that she put a lot of money into making them.
Ellaine built this house from her own money and hard work. She lives here alone. She let her personal driver stay at her condo. She claimed that it is her way to help him lessen his burdens in life. His driver was working his bones out to sustain his family's necessities and his mother needed to undergo surgery.
While I was taking little steps down the stairs, I saw Johnny shaking his head. "We can't change his mind. If he wanted to be alone, never bothered him," he said.
"He just needs to break things. That would make him calm down!" Ryle added.
They didn't notice me as I was going down. I am just listening to their talks without getting their attention.  I am confused and don't know who they are referring to in their talk. Strangely, I wanted to hear more.
"What do you mean, Ryle?" Dwight questioned him.
"You know, Dale always releases his anger through breaking things and punching walls," Ryle replied, looking at her.
Punching walls? Then, what about his hands? I bet it's sore right now. Please Dale, don't beat yourself too much. Even if you hate me, I can't deny it, I still care for you. I can't hate like how much you hate me right now. After all, I felt so guilty deep inside my heart.
These feelings, contradicting each other. How could I stand it?
"He is not like those other guys who made himself drunk and picked a fight somewhere," Johnny uttered.
Ryle immediately agreed with him with a nod. "He is rare. He rarely drinks liquor," Ryle said.
"Oh, Zy. You're up?" Dwight smiled when she noticed me.
I forced a smile and nodded. I walked closer to her and sat next to her. Ellaine was seated next to her on the other side. The two guys were on the other side.
"Zy, are you fine now?" Johnny asked.
Before I could answer his question, Ellaine threw the small pillow on her lap to Johnny. He didn't expect that to happen. It landed on his face.
"Obviously, she’s not!" Ellaine glared at him. "This man!"
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry," Johnny apologized. "How could I know she's not? Look at her! She's so—"
"I'm hungry," I mumbled all of a sudden. "I want food."
Ellaine stood up. "Alright. Now that you're in heartbreak, I'll treat you. The money is on me. You can eat whatever you want!" she announced.
"Hep? Are you guys coming too?" Ellaine asked the two when they followed us to Ellaine's car.
"Oh." Johnny nods. "You, Ryle?" He shifted his gaze to Ryle. "You'll go too, right?"
"Yeah," he responded.
"Lemme drive," Johnny said.
Mac Cheese, French Fries, Roasted Chicken, Cheesecakes, Ramen, Ice Cream and lots more are served on our table. I started savoring those foods when I reached them. Ramen is what I've got first.
I was in the midst of eating when I noticed that they were all staring at me. They carry that surprised look.
"Eat slowly, Zyie." Dwight sounded worried.
"You're such a foodie when you are hurt, Zy," Johnny commented next.
"Just let her be," Ellaine stated. "It'll only be this time."
Of course, I am not the only one who is eating. They have their foods too. It is just that I am eating with much speed compared to them. I can't help it. I felt better when I was eating.
I enjoyed myself eating ice cream. I didn't even notice that I had already finished a lot of cones.
"I need another cone of ice cream," I announced when I finished the other one.
"Zy, you already ate too much ice cream," Ellaine reminded me.
"Sugar reduces levels of the stress hormone hydrocortisone," Ryle started, facing me. "Ice cream is a prime example. But it has a short-lived calming effect when you're upset but they're not exactly good for you, Zy," he continued.
I told them that I am going to purchase some snacks before going home. I was supposed to go there alone but they all insisted on going. I can manage myself but they didn't believe me.
"Here, Zy!" Ryle called me. "Chocolates!"
I went closer to him and looked for the chocolate on the tray.
"This food stimulates endorphins, which are linked to happiness," he said and passed me one. "The darker and more bitter, the better, because it means it has more cocoa than sugar. This way, you won't gain weight easily."
"Having a doctor friend is good, huh?" I accepted the chocolate in his hands.
"Yeah? Instant nutritionist?" He laughed.
"Here! Nuts!" He put it on my cart. "It can help elevate levels of serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that regulates sleep and impulse control."
"Eggs too, right?" Dwight asked.
"Yeah. The protein in eggs can significantly boost your blood plasma levels of tryptophan," Ryle replied.
"Want some almonds? These seeds can produce dopamine. It also contains magnesium and zinc. They are natural antidepressants," he explained.
After shopping, they dropped me off at my house.
"Thank you for today, guys. I am sorry for troubling you all," I said after I got down from the car.
"Don't mention it, Zyie," Ellaine replied and plastered a sweet smile. "Take care of yourself, ah? Don't cry all night. Everything is good but in moderation!"
The house was enclosed with silence when I entered. When I closed the door, I found myself crying again. I could only hug my knees as I sobbed. It felt like my heart was ripped apart and I cannot bear this pain.
Is what Dale said true? Did my dad really cause that accident?
How can I believe him easily? Is my dad that kind of person? My dad has been so good to me. He taught me a lot of things. I grew up with a deep love for my father. Every single day, I have the thought that he is the best dad in the world. But what now? Is he really the one who killed Dale's dad? What if he really did that? What should I do? How could my heart take it? This is driving me insane that I wanted to escape. I wanted to run away, to disappear.
I stared at his picture frame when I reached my room. I reached for it and gently touched it.
"Pa? Who really are you?" I mumbled between my sobs.
I sat at the edge of my bed, hugging my father's photo as I cried my heart out. My sobs are the only noise that plays in my ears. My tears just rolled down endlessly as if my eyes won't run out of these liquids.
Zy, it's okay to cry. Just let it out until there's no more tears left.
Ceugo's Residence
"How's my granddaughter, Lydia?" the lady, her madame, asked on the other line. Her tone was coated with anxiety and agitated.
"Madam, to this day Sir Dale still hasn't come out of the room," Lydia replied as she stepped out and forth. Her hand was formed in fist but it was cold and shaking obviously. Maybe because she was worried for his young master. "Yesterday I could hear things breaking inside his room. He didn't come out either," she added with uneasiness.
"What? What exactly happened to that kid?" the Grandma asked again. "Aren't he and his girlfriend together? The one he always talked about, Clarriese Zyah?"
"I don't know too," Lydia said. "They went to the town of Riem together. They spent almost a couple of weeks there but yesterday Sir Dale was furious to return home with his belongings. He went straight to his room and began breaking things."
"Why did Dale behave like that? How about his friends?"
"Yesterday Sir Ryle and Sir Johnny came here but they couldn't do anything either. It didn't go well. They were chased away."
"You know my room, don't you?"
Lydia nodded. "Yes."
"I have spare keys there in all the rooms of the house. He didn't know that so he probably didn't hide it."
"Oh. All right, please, madam."
Lydia immediately dropped the phone and quickly went to the room her boss was saying. At first she felt nervous as she twisted the doorknob because she knew that in that room, some valuable belongings had been stored by her employer's husband. But she didn't falter about it. She took courage and stepped into the room. She opened drawers where the keys she was looking for were possibly stored.
"This is it, maybe," she whispered when the ankle of the key was found from the bottom of the ward.
She quickly returned to Dale's bedroom to open it. She struggled because she didn't know the right key for his bedroom. She doesn't have any other option but to try all the keys in that bundle. After a few tries, she finally hit the key and opened the door.
That was just how shocked she was when she saw the scattered broken glasses on the floor. There were a lot of scattered pieces of paper. There are a few books also scattered on the floor. Her eyes also caught the blood drops on the wall.
"Oh, no!" She cried with a heavy heart.
But she was more surprised by what she had witnessed next. She immediately felt a sense of mercy here when her eyes fell on her boss.
"Sir Dale!" she sighed. She quickly approached Dale who appeared to be lifeless and was lying on the floor. He had a wound to the foot and was obviously dried in the blood, so it was in his palm. A bottle of wine was stuck in his grasp. Perhaps, he only dozed off because of the effect of alcohol on his body.
"Sir Dale, why did you behave like this?" she cried as she touched the man's glossy hair. Lydia couldn't stop her tears from flowing because of Dale's condition. Again, his image has been reinstated as a child in her mind.  This is the same situation when his father passed away.
Her heart was broken because of his grief. Dale is like a son to ther too. "Iho," she only said amid the crying.
She thought about calling his friends to ask for help. Her young master is quite heavy. With her alone, she couldn't put the man on his bed.
"Hello, Managing Lydia," a cheerful voice on the other side line. "What are we? Happy Ryle at your service!"
She paused before answering. "I've opened your friend's bedroom. I need-"
"Need my help, Manang?" the man replied.
"Yes. Gonna trouble you."
"Right away, Manang," the talker replied before lowering the line.
"Why?" Lydia looked at Dale when she heard him speak. She wondered because the man's eyes were shut. She noticed that tears were clinging to his eyes even though his eyes were closed.
"Why is it you?" he retried with a struggling, bitter voice. His voice is wrapped in sadness.
Even though she was just listening to her boss's word, she found herself couldn't stop her tears. Every word he uttered was filled with pain. It was heart-wrecking to see. It had a terrible effect on her. How could Dale have been born with all those pains?
"Zy. . . "
She finally realised Dale had some conflict with his relationship with Zyah.  Suddenly she also felt worried for the young woman. Even though she doesn't always associate with Zyah she knows her. She appeared happy but had a very soft heart. She feels that the young woman is going through a lot given this situation. The weight on her chest has doubled since the two had a place on her heart.
"Zy, I love you. . ."
Lydia couldn't stop sobbing again. She witnessed the love of the two, how much they loved each other. They were each other's soulmate. Now that there is a problem mediating their relationship, she is aware of the extreme pain and grief it has caused the two.
"Oh my!" Ryle exclaimed as he entered his friend's room.
"Manang, I didn't expect his condition to be this bad," added another of his companions, Johnny.
The two buddies worked together to lift Dale back to his bed. Ryle put down the kit he brought on the bed. He first wore white gloves before starting to clean Dale's wounds. He carefully removed the piece of crystal that pierced Dale's flesh.
"Why do these two need to encounter this kind of pain? They don't even deserve this. . ."
