Chapter 35 The Bloodlines Competition (3)

ALINTA FIND IT AMUSING. And so, she didn't hesitate and jokingly offered her arms, "Then, why not have a taste?" She blinked before presenting her neck. "Perhaps you want to bite me on my neck?"
Unexpectedly, though, the woman's gaze turned hostile. Alinta couldn't help but sigh. And here she thought the woman was humorous.
Well, the woman might be. But it seemed she didn't like it when the subject of a joke was on her.
"Atara's people are truly disgusting."
Alinta shrugged. "Speak for yourself." Then her smile widened. "Jealousy makes people ugly. Why don't you change your ways before it's too late?" Before the competition started, she silently added. Atara instructed her to kill this seductive vampire woman before her, which troubled her since she didn't want to reduce the number of women in this world. After all, this world lacked women, right? The least she could do was to help this world by not killing every woman who could give birth. She sneered when she thought of that last one.
The woman harrumphed. "My men," she looked at her men, "Will you please get her to her knees for me?"
Oh.
Are they going to fight her before the competition starts?
Alinta frowned. Now, this was a predicament. Should she kill her now? Or run and wait for the competition? But--- if Alinta would kill her now, darkness would consume her. She really didn't want that to happen. But she was told by her great ancestor to kill the vampire. So, what was the difference? Now, now. What should she do?
She blinked. Then, a second later, one vampire suddenly appeared before her.
Well, that was fast!
Alinta's eyes and smile turned cold.
Unfortunately, being fast didn't mean he was stronger.
She raised her hands and quickly snapped the vampire's head. The vampire fell to the ground, unconscious. The other vampires rushed to her. This time, she could tell they were trying to kill her.
Alinta fought them with strength. However, she didn't have the stamina to continue doing so. Hence, she finally used magic. Instantly, the vampires were knocked out.
"That's cheating!" the seductively-looking woman exclaimed.
Alinta looked at the woman innocently. "There are rules when people suddenly attack you?" she asked, bewildered. "I never thought vampires had that rule. Fascinating."
The woman looked at the men angrily. "Wake up! Wake up and fight! Don't embarrass me!"
Alinta hid her hands behind and blinked innocently. She wanted to act cute. It worked, though, as the people around couldn't help but be smitten with her. "Don't be stupid and disturb the peace in this land. The competition has yet to come, and you're trying to kill someone already." She looked around and asked, "What is the punishment for someone who initiated a fight? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we're only allowed to fight to our heart's content during the Arena competition."
They were even allowed to kill. Fascinating.
The people around immediately agreed. Some even condemned the vampire princess.
"Princess Trix! This is against the law!"
"Please mind where you are now. This is not your territory. This is the holy land of Priestess Morrigan!"
"That's right! Cease this at once! And reserve your energy for the arena instead!"
Vampire Princess Trix gritted her teeth as she glared at everyone. "Shut up! Priestess! Priestess! Priestess! All your mouths know nothing except priestess! If not that priestess, then it's Atara! Where is your pride--- always hiding behind a woman!"
Alinta blinked amusedly. Ah, jealousy at its finest!
"Should I take this as the vampires rebelling?"
Instantly, the surroundings went silent. And Alinta quickly turned to her back, wanting to take a glimpse of the newcomer. Wide eyes, she couldn't believe it! No --- she actually expected it. In front of her stood the werewolf that was supposed to be her mate. He still looked the same. But his face had a youthful taste to it.
Alinta unconsciously held her neck. The mark wasn't there. At least not visibly. She could feel it, however.
Severino briefly gave her a look with a frown before focusing on the vampire princess. Several werewolves stood behind him emotionlessly. Alinta quickly gave way to them. She would gladly act as an audience to this scene.
"Don't put meanings behind my words, mutt," Trix sneered. "A lot of women hate your mother and Atara. Does that mean they are also rebelling?"
"The vampire princess attacking Lady Atara with her father's men," said Severino indifferently. "What do you think that was if not rebelling?" Trix opened her mouth to retort, but Severino didn't let her. "Your father is currently under observation by the Blood Clad Pack. If you don't want this to escalate further, I advise you to keep a low profile." His eyes turned cold, and his aura dropped at the lowest temperature. "If you will not heed my advice, then the vampire king can only forgive me for the death of his daughter."
'Yes, ah!' thought Alinta. He could kill that woman for her. With that, she didn't have to think of a way to escape her grandmother's order.
"Impude---!" Trix suddenly held her neck. She couldn't breathe! She tumbled down, trying to catch her breath. Yet, no matter how much she tried to move or struggle, there was still no air.
Alinta and the others watched the scene. The latter gulped out of fear.
"Enough!"
Alinta looked at the other new arrival. Oh! The father came!
Severino slowly retracted his aura before looking behind him unhurriedly. "Vampire King," he acknowledged casually.
Vladimir ignored him. He rushed to his daughter, examined her neck, and growled. "Is this how your father raised you?! Hurt a woman?!"
"She's a woman?" Severino asked, raising a brow.
"You---!"
"Pfft," Alinta couldn't help it. She giggled, earning Vladimir's glare. She wasn't laughing at Severino's words. In fact, she found Vladimir pathetic. This was a king? Compared to her father, this vampire king was nothing. He didn't have the aura of a monarch. Alinta would look at him and couldn't find it to herself to give the respect a king should have.
"And who the hell are you?!"
"You better ask Lady Atara about that," Alinta answered. "Vampire king, is it?" She smiled. "You should punish your daughter for attacking a coven of sleepless witches. Otherwise, she might do it again and lose her life. That would be devastating, considering this world lacks women. Or is it that you were the one who ordered her to do that? Now, now," she shook her head in disappointment. "Why are you relying on a woman to do your dirty deeds? Where is your pride as a king?"
Penetrating and chilling gaze instantly fell on Alinta's body. "Someone from Atara's coven, is it?" Vladimir sneered. "Arrogant like your master. I won't bicker with the likes of you---"
"You already are."
"--- We will see you in the arena." He took his daughter in his arms and stood up. "I hope you won't die before that day."
Alinta's smile widened. "Sure," she nodded. "I already have a target. I won't die before you."
Vladimir harrumphed. And like a ghost, he and the men lying on the ground vanished in the restaurant.
When everyone settled down, Alinta faced Severino. "Your Highness, it's an honour to finally meet you in person." She slightly bowed.
Severino frowned. There was something in this woman that he felt familiar. He couldn't understand it, but it was comfortable. Looking at her made his heart comfortable. Having her near him felt...
He chilled. Who the hell was this woman? What kind of enchantment did he do to him?
