Chapter 13 Glows In Sparks
Kai's Pov
The death of Hitai felt like a heavy rock being placed on my weary heart. It was all too sudden for me. The rush of emotions deeply overwhelmed me. This was not how I had intended it would be. Losing Hitai was my only regret.
For the remainder days, until my father's burial rites were performed, I was mostly away. Tasi could merely console me. He too was like a son to my father.
I was in the field when a hand touched my shoulder. I turned to see who that was and I noticed it was Muna. I should be angered at her presence, her presence only invoked my father's death. Was this the prophecy she was meant to reveal?
What more disturbing news would she bring that would torment my sore heart?
"Kai?" She called me.
I was on my knees kneeling under the tree which my father had once planted while I was little. The sight of it only soothed my heart.
"What are you doing here?" I asked her, without turning to look at her.
I felt her flinch before responding, maybe she hadn't expected such a reply from me.
"You have been away for far too long. You need to be around your people, you are your father's heir and King."
I scoffed, dusting the particles of sand studded on my knees then I turned to her, "Sometimes, I still wonder if Tasi was ever right about you and Sikeka."
One of her brows rose in surprise at my words, "I understand you are angered and bittered. Maybe, mother nature will do justice and soothe your heavy heart," then she turned away to go.
Angered by her very words, I grabbed her arm and swirled her around to face me, the shock was evident on her face.
"Are you even real? With the hear-say voices from these unknown gods that you speak of? You are from a world that only I know of and I could spill your secrets because I clearly don't understand what you gain from this," I spoke heatedly.
Muna's lips were slightly parted, she must have been shocked by my words.
Suddenly she flared up too, "Do you think I like it here? acting like a stupid lady from an Iga tribe!" She pulled off her crown of feathers and threw it across the field.
"I do not want to be here, and I do not like the role I play. I only want to return to my home, to the soft covers of my bed, to my mother's embracing arms. I tell myself that all this is a dream that I will wake up from. So, you can do whatever you want to do!" She pushed off my hand, then staggered as I let go.
I watched her as she breathed heavily, avoiding my penetrative eyes. Had I said I would tell on her? Nah, I would be a snitch to do such a thing.
She was someone I was curious to know more of, someone I needed to build my trust in since Sikeka said.....
Enough with what Sikeka said!
I would want to know more about her.... hell, damn that thought. My father was dead and reality was dawning now on me.
"If you could help me find a way to get me home, I will be entirely grateful to you. All this isn't me. I tell myself each day that it is just a dream," she turned back to me to say.
I sighed then stepped closer to her, "I'm sorry," I apologized.
She looked up at me, "No, you shouldn't apologize. I intrude into your territory and ......,"
"Hush," I said taking both of her hands, then placed my forehead to her forehead, "you are gladly welcome in my territory, you're part of us. So, this is your home too," I inhaled, shutting my eyes closed.
She must have done the same. The electricity that surged through my body to her, I felt my heart begin to calm as my fingers intertwined with hers. I could hear her intake and outlet of deep breaths. I could hear her pulse racing, all I wanted to do was to place my lips right there, in the nape of her neck.
We were both oblivious to the things happening around us. We were the only existing beings in our universe. Her breaths began to slow down taking a turn of action.
Crazed by how possibly such a remarkable effect this could have on us both, my wandering hands found its way to her neck. I wanted to bury my lips in the length of her neck.
The exciting feeling had blood racing through my veins, I cupped her cheeks and found myself leaning in to kiss her. Her open eyes caught me in mid-air, her starry pretty eyes.
I couldn't read her thoughts, so how was I to know what she was thinking? But then her luscious lips were pleading to be kissed. All reasoning left my head, and I took the plug.
Let all hell be damned! I told myself.
I inched closer, taking her lips in a slow kiss. Her response surged me on, and I pulled her closer in my embrace.
She melted like ice in my arms, tasted like mints and honey combined, she was so soft in my arms that I wanted all of her.
Once or twice, she moaned in my arms spurning me to intensify the kiss we shared. My wandering hands found their way to her tummy, which was soon splayed across her fully covered-breasts.
The little man between my legs must have woken up when she pressed hard against me, and all I wanted to do at that instant was to lay her back on the grass and make sweet love to her.
The thought that she was our seer didn't occur to me at that moment. I only wanted to kiss her till my lips got tired.
"My Lord!" Someone was coming in on us.
Muna and I separated like two defaulters caught in an unlawful act, then turned to stare at the intruder.
