Earlier, I met with that wretched werewolf boy. It was satisfying to see him look ten times older than what he would normally be due to the stress of being imprisoned.
He must have felt wretched for a crime he had not caused. He seemed to have started to believe his doctors too about his mind becoming derailed.
He looked too pathetic even for my own wicked tastes…
Well, on second thought, he really had caused it…
If he did not hover around Jade until the end and just quietly left without contacting her again, everything would have gone smoothly… Jade would have been mine. We could have lived together just like normal people do…
I always hated that Kix. I knew he was instrumental to our cause on strengthening Jade, but I didn’t like how he had latched onto her and attached himself to her until the very end...
I would have thought that Jade was always mine… My girlfriend, and after her induction, my wife… But the plan I built for so long was ruined. It didn’t all go according to my desires.

I opened the document on my desk. It was the summary for Project Elixir Blood, and inside were the progress of our experimental subject, Subject X-EL. But to me, she will always be known by her name real name – Jade Sy.
That’s right… Jade was originally our targeted experimental subject. We were looking for test creatures for our new product at Brooklyn and Burke - Elixir Blood. It’s a revolutionary product for vampires that would provide them with the blood they needed for nourishment without the need to hunt for prey, thereby solving the ever growing expansion of the vampire population.
I spent nearly a century trying to develop the product when I took over as the chairman of this pharmaceutical company. We kept changing names over the decades to hide the fact that vampires own it.
At first, we only experimented on animals. The idea was to infuse the subject bit by bit with vampire blood in order to get healthier and tastier nourishment over a long period of time. This will eventually turn them into a full-pledged vampire, but not after getting loads and loads of blood from them.
When I first saw Jade, it was in a profile picture presented by the team behind Project Elixir Blood. She was rather just an ordinary-looking girl. She didn’t stand out like the rest of the other candidates…
Thus for our first experiment, we didn’t choose her. We picked a better subject: Arivella Lacson.
Arivella Lacson was an ace athlete. She was also an orphan – someone far easy to discard in the end.
We used the classic scheme of luring our subject out in the dead of the night by posting as her lover. I ensnared her and set the trap myself. Arivella fell for it.
On the day that I picked her up, she was wearing an all-red get up from her dress down to her shoes.
I had always hated red… Ever since my wh*re of a mother would leave the night wearing red to come sleep with different men because she was pissed with her arranged marriage with my father, I had hated it…
Thus, when Arivella wore red, I knew it was a sign from the angels above. She was really going to be a worthy experiment.
Most of the kidnapping was done by my assistant, Gary. He was a newly transformed vampire. Naturally, he was hot-blooded and was still too brutal when it came to handling women.
We disguised the project by spreading rumors of a serial killer, which Gary liked a lot. He did fit the description after all…
As Arivella was human, she sadly didn’t last long. She died after we had only extracted half-a gallon of top quality blood from her. Thus, our Human Experiment 1 using Subject G-DR was a failure.
For our Human Experiment 2, we picked a stronger candidate, someone who can more likely withstand the extreme procedures of blood extraction and the slow vampire induction. We chose Misha Reyes – a werewolf.
Up until her last breath, she never suspected that her father had sold her to us to be part of Project Elixir Blood. In exchange for the help he would gain from Brooklyn and Burke, he volunteered his own daughter for the project. Now, seeing how he had put Kix Sarmiento behind bars, he also used her death to get the sought after alpha position of the prestigious Luna Alba Pack.
Misha had lasted longer than a human, but it was not quite the result we wanted…
Unable to determine the next experimental subject, we decided to leave the selection to fate. Because of this, the creation of the Red Shoes’ Curse website came into existence.
We hired an IT personnel to do the job. We tried to attract potential subjects and at the same time feed on the illusions of a serial killer on the loose when we designed the backdrop for the blog site.
The third subject was not someone we chose. Rather, she was someone who came to us on her own…
The team called it fate, but I’d rather I call it a miracle.
